Mi-Trial is primarily an App to improve adherence in clinical trials. It was built over about an 12-month period during the covid pandemic, in collaboration with a group of clinical trial – and industry, experts.
All of the infrastructure and code to support Mi-Trial and make it run has been built by us at TheCliffFace. This includes the App that sits in both Android and Apple stores, and a companion portal for managing both individuals and administrators for Trials.
The main goal for Mi-Trial was to have an app that did just enough to encourage participation in trials, and remind participants when they have appointments, and what to do prior to an appointment. As such part of the challenge here was to make sure that just this minimal product was built – and to resist the temptation to add anything to the app which wasn’t necessary.
As such the app is pretty minimal, but it has some key features. It can send reminders to users via push notifications – and these reminders can be configured flexibly based on the dates of a participants appointments. Furthermore, the app integrates with the calendar on the participants device, so that they have the option of seeing their appointments alongside other upcoming events.
